The association hopes that the campaign will help more people learn about the unique castles, manors, fortresses, parks and even historical ruins of Latvia, which preserve the memory of past centuries and our history.
The campaign will involve 63 diverse cultural and historical sites, including the Alūksne New Castle, Bīriņi Castle, Blankenfelde Manor, Cesvaine, Dobele and Dundaga castles, Cēsis New Castle and Cēsis Medieval Castle, Daugavpils Fortress, Durbe and Jaunmokas castles, Elejas, Jaunauce and Nurmuiza manors, Koknese Medieval Castle Ruins, Jaunpils and Krustpils castles, Stamirieni Manor, Turaida Castle, etc.
The task of the travellers will be to visit the sites of the participants of the campaign and get a mark on the checklist with a letter or look for a letter in nature. During the campaign, you can collect 63 letters that form various terms related to architecture and art. For each solved word, you will have the opportunity to take part in a monthly prize draw, and having collected at least 10 letters, you will be able to receive an invitation to the final event of the campaign and take part in the final prize draw.
Detailed information about the campaign and the program of events is available on the website of the association www.pilis.lv. The organizers also note that before visiting, it would be a good idea to make sure that the castle or manor is open and that there is no closed event taking place there.
